Capacity Building for Tobacco Control Research

Canadian Tobacco Control Research Summit report

Canadian Tobacco Control Research Summit (CTCRS) Report: "Towards a Coordinated Research Agenda to Reduce Tobacco-Related Problems"

In 2002, the CTCRI brought together a diverse group of investigators and stakeholders in tobacco control to develop a strategic research agenda for Canada for 2002-2012. The aim of the research agenda is to contribute to reductions in tobacco use and to thereby reduce the associated harm. By funding research projects, and through its own strategic projects, the CTCRI works to address the research priorities identified by the Summit.

Better Practices Model
Better Solutions for Complex Problems: Description of a Model to Support Better Practices for Health 626.44 KbThis report gives an overview of the Better Practices Model developed by the CTCRI’s National Tobacco Best Practices Working Group. The Model provides a framework for guiding knowledge synthesis and for the subsequent development of decision-making tools and guidelines for both research and practice. The main components of the model require interactive collaboration between research and practice and are grouped into three phases: (1) building on existing knowledge from work done in the past, (2) taking sensible action in the present and (3) contributing to the wisdom of the future.
